People come up to me all the time and talk to me with frustration about their arms, their belly, those fifteen or fifty pounds they want to lose.
They tell me that's the reason they're at Zumba.
And that they should actually come to class more so that they can lose the weight.
But frankly, y'all.
This is going to blow your mind.
Exercise is not a reliable way to lose weight.
There are too many things that can go wrong.
I know this runs contrary to everything you've probably read or been told.
And you CAN lose weight from exercise. Absolutely. People do it all the time.
- You can get injured.
- You can get sick.
- Your schedule can change.
- You can feel uninspired.
- You can hit traffic and miss half of class
- Yadda yadda yadda...
You have to spend a LOT of time exercising in order to get past burning sugar to burning fat.
I'm NOT saying that exercise isn't massively important to your well-being - IT ABSOLUTELY IS - it's just not where I would start if you want to lose weight.
Here's the secret:
It is WAY more effective, permanent, and sustainable to CHANGE YOUR FOOD to lose weight than to try to exercise your pounds away.
Exercise is AMAZING for your overall health, your strength, your flexibility, your range of motion.
It helps keep your mood up and your anxiety down.
It allows you to get a better night sleep and have energy for a better sex life.
It's an incredible de-stresser and energizer.
It makes your eyes brighter and your skin clearer.
Exercise will CHANGE your whole being!
But exercise is NOT what I would recommend as the number one way to lose weight.
Yes I own a fitness business.
Yes I'm being 100% real with you right now.
Exercise helps your eating choices.
When you get yourself to exercise regularly.
When you start exercising more and wanting to feel better, the exercise incentivizes you to want to eat better.
And THAT is the magic of exercise when it comes to weight loss.
It changes your motivation.
It's not just the exercise that changes your weight.
You can exercise a LOT and not see any change in your body. (I did that for a long time.)
You have to change your food first.
And you have to know which foods to add in and which foods to take out and in what amounts.
This is SUCH an important topic.
Does it interest you?
HIt reply with YES in the comments and tell me what you're biggest stumbling block is about weight loss.
